So many kinds of embraces

The memorial service to commemorate the 1-year anniversary of the loss of life at the Henry Pratt Company was the effort of many kind people.

There were Holy Angels School students who presented flowers and then later spoke with Congressman Bill Foster about the legislative process. There was cross-maker Greg Zanis who is known throughout the nation as *the cross guy*. There were Poet Laureate Fermina Ponce and Aurora’s singer-songwriter Bradley Keven Green performing their original tributes. Deputy Mayor Chuck Nelson moved us all to tears.

The city provided material so people could write notes to the families and first responders. Historical Society Executive Director John Jaros said “this is the exhibit I never wanted to do” but he did and it remains open through February 29 on Wednesdays-Saturdays from Noon-4pm.
