Artifact Donation Guidelines

Thank you for considering donating an artifact.

We are happy to consider:

  • Items made in Aurora, Illinois.
  • Photos from Aurora’s history with identified people and places.
  • Most yearbooks from the 1990s and later.
  • Men’s clothing used in Aurora, Illinois.
  • Letters and diaries.
  • Other artifacts that tell a great story about Aurora, Illinois history.

We are unable to accept:

  • Artifacts without a direct relationship to Aurora, Illinois.
  • Undated artifacts.
  • Artifacts with mold and/or water damage.
  • Artifacts that are broken or incomplete.
  • Furniture and other large objects.
  • Mass-produced items, even if they were used by people living in Aurora, Illinois.
  • Women’s and children’s clothing dating after 1890.
  • Video tapes, cassettes, CDs, and DVDs.
