Aurora From The Air Closing Reception

Feb 20, 2019 | Articles & Exhibits, Special Events

A final look at historic aerial photographs of Aurora and the debut of an original song, “Aurora Strong”,  will be the focus of the closing reception for the Aurora Historical Society exhibit, “Aurora From the Air”.

The reception, with light refreshments,  will be on Saturday, February 23, from Noon to 4 pm at the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer, 60505.  It is open to the public and free, although donations are appreciated.

The exhibit contains aerial views of the city dating from the Victorian era, when “birds-eye maps” were drawn from on-the-ground studies, to the modern era when photographs were taken from high buildings, airplanes, and drones.

Bradley Keven Green is known as Aurora’s songwriter for the dozens of songs he has written about his home town since the 175th anniversary of the city in 2012.   Accompanied by two of his sons, he will perform tunes from his albums (Songs For Aurora, Blues For Aurora) and debut his latest, which he said was inspired by the heart and strength he sees in the city in the face of tragedy.
