Jul 26, 2019 | Articles & Exhibits

Aurora Marine Corporal Rick Todas (on right in old photo) in Vietnam. He returned home and had a long career in law enforcement, the practice of law and city administration. Now retired (see picture in background), he is active with Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84.

Brand-new photo portraits of Aurora’s Vietnam veterans are on display, along with photographs from their fighting days, at the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer, 60505.

Curated by the GAR Memorial Hall and Museum, the portraits were made by Aurora photographer Perry Slade. “I told them to just come however they wanted to be seen,” Slade says. “I didn’t direct themat all.”

Hours are Wed-Fri from Noon-4pm and Saturdays from 10am-4pm, through August. Free.
