Photo: Our bell for “Bells For Peace”

Nov 10, 2018 | Aurora Historical Society

City of Aurora workers give us a hand to move the train bell donated to us by the Roosevelt Aurora American Legion Post 84. Normally kept at the Research Archives and rung on the Fourth of July, the bell will be featured in the November 11th Veterans Day ceremonies at the GAR Memorial Hall. At 11am, it will be ceremoniously rung to commemorate the end of the First World War 100 years ago. Bells across the nation will ring as part of the “Bells For Peace” movement. Come to the Pierce Art and History Center for the parade (steps off at 10:15am), our one-day-only exhibit of original WWI posters, a veterans’ Andy Aurora patch, and – of course – the free coffee and donuts provided by the city.
