The skull of our Mastodon is on loan to the City of Aurora Parks and Recreation Department for display at the Visitor Center at Phillips Park and is sure to draw a lot of attention starting Friday, June 28, 2019, when the new Mastodon Island Peninsula Park is dedicated there.
The ribbon cutting will happen at Noon. The skull weighs 188 pounds and is between 10,000 and 20,000 years old. It was found in 1934 during excavations in the park.
